The difference between verbatim_end_date and drug_exposure_end_date in drug exposure table of v5.2

Dear all,

We are constructing the CDM version 5.2.

We have a question about drug exposure table.

The verbatim_end_date column has been added in version 5.2.

We understand that drug_exposure_end_date is calculated based on the number of days the patient actually took the drug and verbatim_end_date is based on the number of prescription days recorded when the patient was prescribed.

I wonder if we understood exactly.
If the above is misinterpreted, please give me a detailed explanation.

Thank you.

@Hojun_Park:

Not quite. You are right, drug_exposure_end_date is calculated, whichever way you see fit from your data. verbatim_end_date is a field if your data happen to have that information, like if the physician explicitly stopped the medication. Don’t make up the content of this field.
