OHDSI community input on increasing diversity and inclusiveness

Team:

OHDSI prides itself on being an open science community, open and encouraging of participation from everyone around the world who share an interest in advancing our mission: “to improve health by empowering a community to collaboratively generate the evidence that promotes better health decisions and better care”

Recent events spurred by the tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery have intensified an important international conversation about systematic racial injustice in US. It has also have prompted the OHDSI Steering Committee to critically re-examine our community’s mission, vision and values (https://www.ohdsi.org/who-we-are/mission-vision-values/), to ensure that they remain consistent with our community’s ideals and clearly communicate our desired intent to a open community. We also have been reflecting on what we can do as a community to further promote diversity and inclusiveness in all of our community activities. We recognize that we can and should do more, and that starts with opening a dialogue about this important topic and listening to the community to move forward.

With that, I ask that you take a couple minutes to share your thoughts anonymously on this survey:

I’ll gather your feedback through 27June2020, and will summarize the input from the community on this thread shortly thereafter. I also encourage anyone who wants to share their thoughts directly to contribute to the discussion.

Thank you all for sharing your input.
