Map COVID-19 lab test names to LOINC codes

HI everyone - OHDSI NLP WG developed a new open source tool (COVID-19 TestNorm) for mapping local COVID-19 lab test names to standard LOINC codes. A paper was accepted at JAMIA: https://academic.oup.com/jamia/article/doi/10.1093/jamia/ocaa145/5860833. The COVID-19 TestNorm tool can be found at OHDSI NLPTools Github: https://github.com/OHDSI/NLPTools. Thanks.

Hi @HuaXu – very cool! I am trying the python script out, but encountered an error (https://github.com/UTHealth-CCB/covid19_testnorm/issues/1). Mind taking a look?

Ajit - Thanks for testing it out. I will ask the developer to take a look immediately. Meanwhile, you can try the online demo for immediate use of the tool: https://clamp.uth.edu/covid/loinc.php. Thanks.

hi, can I just ask whether there is a plan in LONIC for COVID test results (pre-coordinated)? sorry, I haven’t kept myself up-to-date on this. if so please let me know.

Does this method delineate between labs for other coronaviruses and labs for COVID-19? Or do you have to first identify a set of definite COVID labs?

Yes, LOINC already releases a set of COVID-19 codes: https://loinc.org/sars-cov-2-and-covid-19/

Good question! We have to test it. We do require a COVID entity is mentioned, but not COVID-19 I think.
