Has OMOP CDM been used as a data model for a clinical information system

Hi!

Has anyone tried to use OMOP-CDM as a data model for a clinical information system?

Thanks!

I would argue against it unless your “clinical information system” is an application like ATLAS whose usage aligns with the original design intent of the OMOP Common Data Model.

The OMOP CDM as a model for a research data repository doesn’t include ETL audit columns that would be standard for supporting incremental loads in an enterprise data warehouse (Extension columns for ETL auditing & lineage).

I can just imagine the problems encountered by a developer trying to use the CDM as her back-end application database – unless that application was very simple.

The design principle of “form follows function” applies.
