Capture/Flag contraindication drug types in Drug_Exposure

Hello,

Could you please suggest/correct the choice to map the DRUG_TYPE_CONCEPT_ID to categorize/differentiate the origin of drug exposures for certain drugs administered in below manner:

  1. Not administered (Medication was neither administered nor prescribed)
  2. Contraindicated (Medication was not administered because of a contraindication. Contraindications must be documented explicitly by the physician or clearly evidenced within the medical record)
  3. Medication was administered or prescribed.
  4. Blinded – Patient was in a research study or clinical trial and the administration of this specific medication or class of medications is unknown.

Medication Administered => Concept_id
Not administered => 38000178 (Medication list entry)
Contraindicated => ???
Medication was administered or prescribed => 38000177(Prescription written)
Patient was in a research study or clinical trial and the administration of this specific medication or class of medications is unknown. => 44777970 (Randomized Drug)

Thank you!

@dave16884:

  1. Then don’t write a record. We are only interested what healthcare entities the patient experienced. Intention to commit a crime is not a crime. :smile:
  2. Neither. Patient was not exposed, so no record in the DRUG_EXPOSURE table
  3. Depends. Was it administered or prescribed or dispensed?
  4. That’s a good one. We don’t have that. We should add such a Type Concept.

thanks Christian for prompt response. The vendor does not have clear distinction on the 3) Medication administered/prescribed. It is either/or. so I picked one.
